Jay Park is a Korean-American rapper, singer, and dancer who first gained fame as a member of the boy band 2PM. Born on April 25, 1987 in Edmonds, Washington, Park showed a keen interest in hip hop music and breakdancing from a young age. He attended Edmonds-Woodway High School, where he spent much of his free time practicing dance with the Seattle-based b-boy crew Art of Movement.
In 2004, Park became a trainee under JYP Entertainment and debuted as the leader of 2PM in 2008. However, in 2009, he faced controversy over comments he had made criticizing life in South Korea on his Myspace account from 2005. This led to his departure from 2PM in 2010.
After returning to the United States, Park gained YouTube fame in 2010 for his cover of B.o.B's "Nothin' on You", which garnered over 2 million views in just 24 hours. He then signed with the Korean agency SidusHQ and released his debut EP "Count on Me" in July 2010, which topped the charts in Korea.

Since then, Park has established himself as a successful solo artist, known for his contemporary R&B and hip hop sound. He has won numerous awards, including Musician of the Year at the Korean Music Awards in 2013. In 2013, he founded the independent record label AOMG, and in 2017, he co-created the global hip hop label H1GHR Music with producer Cha Cha Malone. As of 2022, Park has stepped down as CEO of both labels and founded a new label called MORE VISION.
At 37 years old, Jay Park continues to be an influential figure in the Korean hip hop scene, known for his charismatic performances and versatility as an artist. He is currently signed to Roc Nation for his American activities.
