Legendary NHRA driver John Force, now 75 years old, was involved in a terrifying 300-mph crash during the Virginia Nationals on Sunday. The crash occurred when Force's Funny Car exploded at the finish line, causing his vehicle to careen across the centerline and strike both concrete guard walls.
Despite the severity of the accident, Force remained alert and conscious, talking to NHRA safety personnel immediately after the crash. He was airlifted to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and spent the night under observation in the ICU.

This crash, while one of the biggest of Force's illustrious career, was not as severe as the life-threatening accident he suffered in 2007 at age 58 in Ennis, Texas. However, the incident was still incredibly scary, given Force's advanced age of 75 and the high-speed nature of the crash.
Force's teammates and the racing community have rallied around the legendary driver, with Austin Prock dedicating his Funny Car victory to Force, saying "The trophy is going straight to the hospital to John Force." Prock praised Force's toughness, stating "He's one tough son-of-a-bitch, I know that."
